Week 3-4 Update

 Objective: Isolate all the parts of the church. The most important being the base, capital, sill, head and vault.

During the following week i have separated one side of the church into different groups (base, capital, sill, head and vault). It proved to be difficult in some cases as not all the objects were grouped and i had to explode and group most of them in order to make it work with the database which the group is currently working on.

Week 2-3 Progress



During the last few weeks we have been deciding everybody's roles and how we will work together. In between week 3-4 i have started looking at Unity and getting familiar with its toolbars and how to achieve importing and adding textures to the scene. I have also taught myself how to play with directional light and shading.

Problems i faced.
  • 1st person character mode showed textures that looked very ugly and the scene showed no lighting despite it having lighting in view mode.
  • Finding out how to add the Toon shader
  • Importing model and finding the correct folder
  • Not all textures applied from google sketchup import into unity
Solutions

  • Create lighting and change light mapping to "realtime online"
  • Toon shader is dragged into inspector of the chosen object
  • Folder is in documents > unity > assets
